International contemporary art Exhibition
Estense Castle, Ferrara/Italy
October 29 - November 06, 2005

First of all, I would like to thank Ms. Beatrice Ricca, President of ArtexArte foundation and Ms. Paola Trevisan, the vice-president and curator of this exhibition.

“Landscapes” international Art Exhibition has managed to gather a group of Italian and foreign, young and less-young artists who have chosen the beauty, the charm of the landscapes and, in general, of nature as their inspiration.

There is an extensive variety of art because each artist interprets the theme following his/her own soul and sensibility. But the harmony of the exhibition remains unquestionable. We are proud of “Landscapes” International character. There are many different countries represented, such as Israel, Canada, United States, Switzerland and other European countries such as Austria, Denmark, The Netherlands, Czech Republic and Ukraine. This international character is a great stimulus for us since we believe in all participating artists as well. We are glad that the “Landscapes” exhibition presented greatly, the multimedia aspects of contemporary art, in particular, the photography which displays the high-level of this artistic discipline.

In this harmonic variety, one of the most important protagonists is emotion. As I always say, the art is to paint, to take photos, to assault and maybe, even to offend emotions. In this journey, through the outstanding scenery given by the Imbarcadero Rooms, we are facing romantic visions, abstractions, naive tales, airy, fresh, sunny landscapes and Mediterranean horizons. We also admired the intimate nature that merges realist and dreamy visions together.

In addition, I would like to thank all artists because they are the very protagonists of this exhibition. As well, we can’t forget art organizations that make it happen. We are aware of your efforts to come and participate at “Landscapes”. Our thanks go out to the ArtexArte foundation that made this exhibition possible by assuming the associated costs despite the amount of effort it required. Many thanks go out to all of you for bringing such excellent artwork showing superior artistic abilities.

ArtexArte Foundation’s objective is to carry out initiatives of significant artistic and cultural interest to promote and cultivate culture and civic sense with particular focus on the pictorial, figurative, poetic, literary, photographic, theatrical and musical art. Furthermore, we would love to select places of historical scenery like the “Estense Castle”. In fact, our next exhibition” Horizons” in March, will be held in Tuscany, in the beautiful Villa Medicea “La Ferdinanda” only a few minutes away from Florence. All artists, with no exclusion, are invited to join.

Now, we are about to announce the prizes. But before doing that, I have to say that it was a very difficult task because there are so many good artists exhibiting here and they all deserve prizes.

Let’s start with the two tags given by ArtexArte foundation:

- Amy Veldman-Wilson from Rhode Island, United States (oil paintings)
- Daniela Birindelli, from Pistoia, Italy (oil paintings)
Emerging artist Prize:
- Martin Wurfl, from Zurich, Switzerland (for his beautiful and delicate watercolours)
Filippo de Pisis Prize:
- Giampietro Mattolin, from Vicenza, Italy (for his intense and outstanding photos)

“Landscapes” is the first step of a long journey that observe you artists, the protagonists, who remind us of what Paul Klee says “Art doesn’t reproduce what is visible but makes visible of what not always can be seen”.

Thank you all and hope to meet you again in Tuscany, for “Horizons” Art Exhibition.
